Gourmet Garden's new Lightly Dried Herbs

Australian herb company Gourmet Garden has launched a new Lightly Dried Herb range, made with Australian organically grow herbs that have been washed, roughly chopped and lightly dried.

According to the Company said the light drying is just enough so that the herbs "refresh full of flavour, colour and aroma in everyday cooking". ?Gourmet Garden said the light drying process gives the herbs a longer shelf life, which allows them to stay fresh for four weeks once opened.

There are five herb varieties available in the range: basil, coriander, parsley, chilli and ginger. The Lightly Dried Herb range comes in resealable pinch pouches.

Gourmet Garden was launched in Australia in 1999 by two scientists who had decided they were not satisfied with the short season for fresh herbs and the flavour of dry herbs. The Company's patented process of capturing and storing fresh chopped herbs and spices under refrigeration was tested from the mid-1990s and commercialised by the Botanical Food Company in 1998, before the launch of Gourmet Garden in 1999. In 2006, Gourmet Garden moved into a new purpose built processing plant, which gained organic certification by the Organic Food Chain in 2009.

The Company now exports its products to the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, New Zealand and Asia. Gourmet Garden said the possibility for expansion into further international markets is currently being explored.

The new Lightly Dried Herb range is available in Woolworths supermarkets and selected IGA supermarkets for RRP $2.98, and in a value pack for RRP $6.98.
